India is sovereign, democratic, republic, in Southeast Asia. It is the fourth largest country in the world, with a population exceeding 100 million. It is a diverse country with many cultures, religions, languages co-existing in as many as 28 states and 6 Union Territories. Its capital is New Delhi. The other major cities include Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune, to name a few. India is a predominantly agricultural nation. For the last decade or so, its economy has taken a quantum leap with Information Technology, Biotechnology, Space Technology, Military, Automobile sector, Petrochemicals leading the way.
