Category:American folk songs

From ArticleWorld

American folk songs are one of the centers to the American culture. Whether it is songs sung by the barbershop quartet, those written by Stephen Foster, or the music pieces by Gershwin, American music is diverse and meshed into the history of this young country. In the span of two centuries, this country has developed more subgenres in folk music alone than most countries have in the span of their whole recorded history. The freedom to express has been a blessing this area, yet it has come to a defining price. Much of the music is based on the industrial revolution, the isolation that was suffered due to religion or racial bias.
