New Order

From ArticleWorld

New Order was reminiscent of Joy Division in their early work, but they eventually formed their own sound. Many see them as the front runners of birthing Synth Pop and as a very significant influence on the dance music and dance club scene. Their true sound can be described as a mesh of electronic dance music and post punk.

Line up

The current lineup of members are Bernard Sumner (vocals, guitars), Peter Hook (bass, keyboards), Stephen Morris (drums, keyboards), and Phil Cunningham (guitars, keyboards).

Song Titles

Many of their song titles have little or no real meaning to the actual songs. They are just labels that are used for the songs that are performed. New Order had a huge impact during the early and mid 90’s with much of their music falling into more and more subgenres at the night clubs formats. Even to this day, much of their older stuff is sought for its savvy way of using keyboards and synthesizer originality.

Orgy

Recently the hard hitting band Orgy remade the song Blue Monday and became an instant sensation. Many bands have used Joy Division songs or New Order songs as a means to start their own careers. This is but one example where one of many bands has gained momentum on the coat tails of this band.

Conclusion

Right now the band New Order is still around and they tour on occasion, they have been reportedly working on new material, but this is not confirmed. Some of their music has had implications to the prior band and to Ian Curtis. How much longer New Order will stay together is not known, but they seem to have no intentions of parting ways.

New Order is among the rare few bands that has virtually kept the same band member through the course of the band’s life.
