Manipulative therapy involves the physical manipulation of the body in order to promote healing. In includes many different schools of thought originating from many cultures but they are all based on the belief that ill health can be treated by physical manipulations rather that chemical-based medicines. Some are traditional Chinese medicines such as acupressure and acupuncture, some are Japanese in origin like Seitai and then there is chiropractic medicine, osteopathy and massage therapy to name a few.
