Secondary sector of industry

From ArticleWorld

The secondary sector of industry refers to all manufacturing. The raw materials, or those that have been processed or purified by the primary sector, are in this stage converted to goods or products suitable for sale to consumers, or use by other businesses. Depending on whom the products are being made for, and how much of a resource drain it is to manufacture them, industries in this sector are classified as light or heavy industry. Secondary sector industries are generally extremely energy-dependent and have considerable [[environmental and health impact. Industries in this sector include food processing, engineering, electronics, energy, and automobiles.
