Natural skin care

From ArticleWorld

Natural skin care refers to the care of one’s skin using products that are used from natural ingredients, like herbs, flowers and roots.

Who uses natural skin care

Natural skin care is ideal for people who suffer from skin allergies or have otherwise sensitive skin. Many spas and skin care salons have shifted their focus over the recent years to products that use natural skin care products.

Definition of natural

There is no uniformly accepted definition of natural. In fact, all ingredients are chemicals as a matter of definition. For this reason, any ingredients are unnatural.

Dermatologists say that “natural” has little meaning medically and the United States Food and Drug Administration says that this claim offers no legal meaning and suggests that consumers understand the ingredients that are on the label before purchasing a product that is promoted as “natural.”

Using it at home

The term holds power from a marketing standpoint; the act of promoting skin care and cosmetic products to consumers often focuses on the natural benefits of a product.

Many people who are frustrated with the marketing blitz on natural products have resorted to creating their own natural skin care at home to completely control the products that they put on their bodies. Easy-to-make home skin-care products include lotions, moisturizers and toners but consumers can also opt to make their own facial masks and scrubs (often using oatmeal or sea salts as a primary ingredient).

Proponents of natural skin care say that it keeps skin softer and more healthful than traditional skin-care methods and chemical products.
