Everyone who knows how to skateboard has to learn hot to go downhill on a skateboard. It is an important thing to learn, as it will help you avoid falling while riding downhill.

Method

1.Be aware that you will gather speed as you go downhill. As you approach the hill, make sure that you are not travelling too fast. There is a point at which no-one, expert or not, can keep hold of a speeding skateboard.

2.Keep your trucks tight. A loose truck at this point can cause an accident; loose trucks wobble, and cause you to lose stability. You don’t want that when you’re going downhill.

3.Bending your knees will also help you to stay stable while you go downhill. The important thing is not to overbalance, so crouch, but not too low.

4.Better to opt out if you begin to fall. Being able to choose when you get off means that you can avoid a more serious incident. If you have to fall, it is better to do it when you still have some control. An opt out should spare you a serious injury.

5.When you get to the bottom, ride away as though you do it all the time.

When you are going at high speeds, getting into a crouch offers you some stability.

If you are a beginner, go slowly. Don’t pick the biggest hill in the neighbourhood, find a small hill, and keep practicing. You should be able to ride over the smaller hills with ease before you tackle the big ‘uns.

Protective gear, always. There is a reason it’s called protective, and it is there to make sure that you walk away from a big fall.

Confidence is a must. You should know your abilities, and this will tell you whether you are ready or not. If you have practiced your heart out, and feel ready, go for it. You will have to try at some point.
