Shopping for gifts for a baby is always fun, but sometimes it seems so impersonal. Creating a gift for a baby is a way of how much you care.

- First, think of the baby and his or her parents. Think of something really special and creative to make.
- Make a list of everything that you will need to make the gift.
If you don't, you are bound to forget something and it will delay or even ruin the project.

Get the spelling correct
If you are personalizing the gift with the baby's name, then obviously you will need to know the name, but make sure you have the spelling correct. So many names today have unique spellings.
- If you are experienced in calligraphy, using this skill will add an air of elegance to the gift.
- If you are creating a pillow or blanket, using calligraphy as a base for embroidery will make the gift even more special.

Practice is important
Practice practice practice. It will take several tries before you get it right. By practicing on a piece of paper before starting, you will not ruin your gift, and you are assuring that the gift will be perfect.
- Take your time when you are writing your message. You will not have a second chance unless you start the gift all over again from the beginning.
- When the message is written, and it is time to start the embroidery, choose the color thread the will accentuate the colors in the gift.
- Remember that babies need bright and vibrant colors to help them develop.
