George Clooney was born May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky. His father was a news anchor and television host, his aunt, Rosemary Clooney, is a famous singer/actress, he has one cousin who is an actor and another who married actress Debby Boone.

Career

Clooney began his career as a handyman of the television series The Facts of Life. He got noticed as Roseanne's boss on the hit television show, Roseanne. He became famous for his role as Doug Ross on the popular television drama ER. He left ER at the height of his career to pursue film acting. His career skyrocketed when he starred in the movie The Perfect Storm. He has been a part of over 30 films to date and has become a bankable film star. In addition to acting, he made his directorial debut in 2002 with the film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind about television producer Chuck Barris. He won a Golden Globe as Best Supporting Actor in 2006 for his role in Syriana. He has been nominated for an Oscar for his movie, which he co-wrote and directed, 'Good Night and Good Luck.

Medical

  • Clooney has had a difficult time finding insurance coverage for his films. Because of this, he has put his house up for collateral.
  • During shooting of the film Syriana, Clooney injured his dura mater. Doctors didn't pay attention to his complaints until cerebrospinal fluid leaked form his nose. He has had numerous surgeries to correct this injury.
  • While in high school, George Clooney suffered from Bell's palsy.
