Donatella Versace just like her brother, Gianni Versace is an Italian fashion designer. She is now Vice President of the Versace Group and she is also the chief designer for the Versace clothing line. She also own stock in tin the Versace Group. She owns about twenty percent of the Versace Company. Her brother Santo also own stock in the company.

Early life

Donatella is the youngest of four children and her father was a businessman for Italian Royalty. She also studied many languages at Florence University in Italy. Otherwise, she went to parties with her brother Gianni. She started with the Versace Company in the public relations department.

Versace name

Donatella is actually credited as the person who used models and notable celebrities to market her clothing line on the catwalk. She also used her good friends Demi Moore and Madonna in the advertising of her haute couture clothing line because she trusted then to help promote the Versace name. Donatella was also was the creator and chief designer of the now defunct clothing line called Versace Young which was a clothing line for kids in 1993.

Miami tragedy

In 1997 outside of his home Gianni Versace was shot and killed by serial killer Andrew Cunanan who killed himself before he was caught. There was no known motive for this murder but it affected her deeply. Because of her brother’s murder, Donatella canceled the spring and summer collection and also the indirect control of the company. She is now continuing to design her haute couture line.
