From ArticleWorld

Peptides are formed from the linking of α-amino acids. This linkage is refered to as an amide bond or more commonly as a peptide bond. Peptides are shorter in comparison to polypeptides. There are three major classes of peptides. These are ribosomal peptides, nonribosomal peptides and digested peptides. These classes are based on the method by which the peptide is produced.
