Nomads and nomadic communities do not settle in one place. Historically nomads have moved either to best utilize natural resources (pastoral nomads), or to offer a service or ply a trade more profitably (peripatetic nomads). The former are more common in Tibet and Central Asia, for example, and the latter in Europe. The best known nomadic community are the Roma. 'Modern nomads' is a term used to describe individuals in the globalized world who move to a new country every few years either for professional reasons or out of personal choice.
