Goa is the smallest state in India. It is located on the West coast of the country in the Konkan region. The state’s capital is Panaji and the largest town in the region is Vasco-Da-Gama (referred to as Vasco). In the 16th century, the Portuguese colonized the area. The established colony remained under Portugal ruling for around 450 years and was later annexed by India in 1961. Each year, Goa is attract a large tourist population.
