C++ is an object-oriented programming language based on C. It was developed in the 1980s by Bjarne Stroustrup and subsequently standardized.
C++ retains many of C's features while adding a complex object-oriented feature set, making it one of the most widely used programming languages. It is a high-level programming language that is compatible with C, meaning that older C programs are often easily portable to C++.
It has been criticized for being overally difficult and cumbersome, as it adds even more features over an already burdened C.
