Amateur astronomy is a branch of astronomy where the individuals involved are mostly hobbyist interested in the viewing of celestial objects. This hobby is mostly associated with observations made by viewing of the night sky. At this time it is possible to see the majority of celestial objects and events. There are also instances however when this hobby is done during the day when events such as sunspots and solar eclipses occur. Most amateur astronomers use tools such as binoculars and portable telescopes however it is also common to use only the naked eye.
