The Barbary Coast Hotel & Casino is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It was built in 1979, and is owned and operated by Boyd Gaming Corporation. With only a mere 196 rooms, it is one of the smaller properties on the Las Vegas strip. With its old wood and authentic stained glass interior, it is one of the few establishments on the Strip to offer the real feeling of the old Las Vegas.


History

On September 6, 2005, Boyd Gaming purchased the 4.3 acres (17,000 m²) of land under the hotel for $16 million. The hotel had been leasing the land up to this point.

All the architecture and design work of hotel and casino were fashioned based on authentic design, to bring an appealing and unique design to a city and a strip that are predominantly ultramodern. The goal and attempt were in the efforts to devise a locale to be both original and tasteful. so the draw to the typical customer would be not to be impressed with fancy lights and pretty extravagant scenery, but to bring a down to earth and historic feel that sorely lacking in the city nicknamed sin city.

The Barbary Coast Hotel & Casino is among the smallest hotel and casino establishments in Las Vegas for the caliber it represents. The intention for this establishment wasn't for quantity, but quality.

In time, the question will be if they will build upon this original concept to allow more people to experience this unique event.
