Art nouveau is a style that is used in many of the arts such as graphic design and architecture. In Russia, this movement involved a magazine called World of Art and it gave rise to the Ballets Russes. Because of the popularity of Art nouveau, there was an arts and crafts movement too.

Career of art nouveau

The name art nouveau came from a Paris shop named The Art Nouveau House. Art nouveau took advantage of many new technologies that came into being in the late 19th century such as iron and the type of glass that is used in many architecture projects.

Art nouveau media

Art nouveau is considered a complete style which means that art nouveau influences every type of artistic media. Here are some of the artistic media that art nouveau always influences:

  • Two dimensional designs: Art nouveau pieces were also popular when used in advertising, magazines, and most print media.
  • Glass
  • Jewelry: Here we are talking about materials such as glass, horns, and ivory.
