Game of strategy

From ArticleWorld

A game of strategy is one where there is no element of chance, but is influenced by interaction with the environment, and the other players. The players’ decision making, and choices, are most significant to the outcome. Other than interacting with the game pieces, there is no physical skill involved, and all players have equal knowledge of the elements of the game. The players all start at the same place, or with the same assets, and base their play on how the other players will react to their strategies.

Examples

There have been many strategy games over the years. Most board games are strategy games, as well as video and computer games. Chess and checkers are probably the two most known for the strategy element. War games, God games (the player has total control of the world and its inhabitants), and City building games, are all types of strategy games. Real time strategy games (mostly video and computer games) are games of strategy where decisions and plays must be made in an ever-changing environment. Turn based strategy games are also usually computer games. Some turn based games require the players to take their turns simultaneously. Each player is allowed a certain amount of time, to form their strategy, before taking their turn. Many other games, like card games, also require strategy, but also involve chance so cannot be considered true games of strategy.
