Pharmacy is the study and practice of dispensing medications, educating patients and evaluating patient medications for drug-drug interactions or possible allergic potentials. In some cases, a pharmacist (a professional who has studied and is licensed to practice pharmacy) can study the practice of compounding, which is the mixing of bulk medications into creams, suppositories and other vehicles. A pharmacist also works in what is called a “pharmacy” in some countries. In other countries, it is referred to as a chemist, a drugstore or an apothecary.
