British children’s literature is almost as vast and varied as its adult literature. The earliest works included the Scottish children’s literature as well as Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. These were followed by Peter Pan, A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh, and Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, in almost quick succession. Then came Enid Blyton who gained immense fame with her many series featuring adventurous children. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, Charlie and the Chocolate factory by Roald Dahl and Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling have already created history with their popularity.
