The Crow: City of Angels

From ArticleWorld

The first movie was suppose to be one of three that Brandon Lee was to do and this one was a difficult one to get anyone to take. Many thought it was career suicide trying to follow in the path that Brandon Lee had laid out. Vincent Perez took the challenge and despite the semi bad ratings did a good job considering the circumstances.

Plot

Vincent Perez plays Ashe Corven, who is murdered after witnessing his son’s killing by a gang of criminals. He was a single father that centered his life around his son.

As in the first movie, he is brought back as a revenant by a crow to reap a path of destruction in the revenge for his son’s death and his own. Like the first, he takes out each henchman before the crime lord, Judas.

Along the way he encounters Sarah from the first film, now an adult (played by Mia Kirshner) and obsessed with the paranormal. She plays more of a guide to him from her experiences with Eric Draven. The crime boss, Judah Earl, hungers for the power he sees in Ashe. He gets that and more.

Differences

Where the first movie was more raw and emotional, this one was more philosophical and in some areas lacking in emotion. This was probably why this movie did less in terms of popularity. Perez did a good job for what he had to use in this movie.

Sub Note

Technically this is the third movie that was released, or better yet this is the third attempt at a crow movie. The second was released on MTV News a while back and could have been a publicity stunt. There was to be movie rendering of the Crow: Dead Time which had Bon Jovi as the Crow character. They had the picture of him on the screen, yet after this it was never heard of again.

Another note about this, the second and third characters in the comics names are merged to make this character’s name.
