Music managers

The Music manager can have many attributions and tasks to do, which can be based on different aspects. At the beginning of a relationship with a new band the music manager needs to assess the needs, wants and the potential of a band, singer or performer. In most cases the main goal that needs to be achieved is a CD launch. The compensation that is asked from the band is a delicate subject that can cause a negotiation to drop. Several aspects are taken into consideration from manager fame to band potential. A band or singer needs to land as many gigs as possible and the music manager is the individual that needs to arrange that. In the recording studio one also needs to be careful. Signing a bad recording contract can lead to less money than it could have been possible. The production and CD launch events are usually the two most important events that need to be managed. Some will argue that touring is the main thing that needs to be on a manager’s mind. Different techniques will bring in different results and what and when to do an action is entirely a decision that is done by the music manager. Other tasks that fall in the manager’s hands include:

  • Tour organization
  • Material promotion
  • Fan meetings
  • Popularity increase venues and appearances
  • Advice on how something can affect the career of the band or singer
  • Other actions that need to be done or can be done to promote the band.
