An explorer and his partner trek to Africa to investigate the legend of a battleship that was lost during the Civil War. While there, he encounters a scientist who is struggling to find the source of a devastating pandemic outbreak. She is sure it is caused by some form of toxic pollution.

Plot

An adventurous man, Dirk Pitt(Matthew McConaughey)is a researcher in the National Underwater Marine Agency(NUMA). He’s fascinated by the mysterious disappearance of a Civil War battleship that was loaded with treasure, according to the legend.

With his partner, Al Giordino(Steve Zahn)he travels to Africa to get to the bottom of the matter. There, they meet Dr. Eva Rojas(Penelope Cruz)who is conducting research on the cause of a serious outbreak of a disease spreading across the face of Africa. She suspects that the cause is toxic pollution, but is tracking the source for certainty. There is a fear that, if unchecked, it will spread throughout the globe to the United States.

A local warlord holds the secret to the ship and a greedy mogul is behind the pollution. They agree to join efforts and help each other.

Resolution

Both Pitt and Dr. Rojas hope to get what they’re searching for. He finds the trail to the lost ship. He helps her find the source of the disease, as well. A confrontation with mogul and the source of the pollution occurs and the connection to the mystery ship is made.

Although this is a rugged, adventure tale, there is a touch of humor inside the thrill of each episode.
