Jet Li is the youngest of three children and was raised in central China. His father died when he was only two and he would later go to a special school in learning the skill of Wushu. Wushu back then was different than modern wushu. He was taught all the forms of Chinese martial arts and at the age of 11 would be in the Wushu championships. He won numerous gold metals and was the champion of Wushu for many years. This popularity brought him to a crossroads, teaching Wushu or acting.

Acting

With Great Harvest and other companies he made 100 Hong Kong dollars per movie and was in numerous movies including a remake of his idol’s movie Chinese Connection. This remake, Fist of Legend, would warrant a number of sequels and would another movie he made of a Chinese legend, Once Upon a Time In Chine. It was this series that would bring Li to America.

Once Upon A Time

The Third installment of Once Upon A Time In China brought Jet Li to the Americas for filming and he decided to take a chance out in the United States. The eventually brought him the role he had in Lethal Weapon 4 and soon a whole run of movies that would make him famous in the American industry and in the world.


Overview

With Hero being released in the United States, and the movies Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 the Grave, One, and Unleashed , Jet Li has proven that he has a higher level of talent than just martial arts and has begun to see more work coming his way.

Currently he has Rogue and Fearless slated for this year. If his career is any indication, these are only the ones we know about. Plus he has produced a number of television shows and movies, this is another area that he is becoming involved with.
