How to get rid of the "Low Disk Space" errors

From ArticleWorld

When your hard drive fills up, Windows will often warn you that you are running out of disk space. While this is a good thing to know, it often gets in the way (especially when you have a small hard drive and you know that you are running out of space even without constant reminders). You can disable these warnings by following these steps.

Steps

  1. Go to Start, Run and type regedit.exe in the box. Press Enter to run the Registry Editor.
  2. Now go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer. You should see a number of keys on the right pane.
  3. Create a new DWORD value and give it the name 'NoLowdiskSpaceCheks' (without the quotes). Double-click on it to change its value. Set its value to 1 and click OK.

Notes

Without Windows' constant reminders, you will have to keep an eye on the free space available. In order to work correctly, Windows, as well as some applications, need a certain amount of free space. A general guideline is to try not to fall below 150 MB of free space on the C:\ drive. You can free up some space on your hard drive.

Although it might be tempting, it is not a good idea to change anything else in the Registry. While some of the settings there are not important (or can be easily re-created by the programs who use them), some are essential to your computer.
