How to get high SAT or PSAT scores

From ArticleWorld

To get high SAT or PSAT scores will require extreme hard work and industry and then some more because you are pitted against some of the best students in the world. Clearly, the SAT is an extremely important part of your educational career. Your SAT score will be one of the most decisive factors when it comes to college admissions, winning free scholarship money, and achieving your desired college goals. Unfortunately there are many students who achieve good grades in school, who work hard and maintain busy schedules, or who truly want to attend college and pursue an education but they do not score well on the SAT. This can happen due to many reasons. Some students are just not good test takers while others freeze up on seeing the test. Here are some pointers to help you score better, though they do not guarantee you your score.

A few suggestions

  1. First and foremost, you need to be absolutely sure that this is what you want and go for it with total determination and will power.
  2. Next, chart out a time table for studying for the test at least a month or a month and a half before the actual test.
  3. Start reading fiction as well as non-fiction books to improve your vocabulary as this is a very important section of the SAT. Do this besides studying for the test.
  4. Read the current affairs and the editorial section of the newspaper to stay informed about the latest that is happening in your country and around the world.
  5. Buy a book on SAT and practice one section each day. Once a week take the whole practice test and time as well as score yourself.

Do’s

  • Start winding down a couple of days before the exam and take it easy.
  • Don’t study the night just before the exam and stay relaxed and get a good night’s sleep

Don’ts

  • Don’t get nervous and jittery. You can take the test more than once and as most students score better the second or the third time, there is no stress to perform well the first time round.
