How to decorate your house for Halloween for under twenty dollars

When you are thinking about decorating your house for Halloween, it to not have to cost you a fortune. A visit to your local dollar store for supplies can save you a lot of money and still have a great Halloween decorated house.

What you need

  • A pair of scissors
  • Colored construction paper, make sure there is plenty of Black
  • Glue
  • Gray and White poster board paper
  • Glitter
  • Black and Orange Markers
  • Fishing Bobbers
  • Stencils of the alphabet and of bats. Skulls, witches and pumpkins
  • An old pillowcase
  • An old shirt, pants, belt and hat
  • Needle and Thread

Decorating

  • Lay the stencil out on the construction paper and trace the shapes of the bats, witches and skulls and pumpkins. Uses the appropriate colors of construction paper. Cut the shapes out and place them a side. Use glue and glitter to make them stand out.
  • Use the stencils to trace Happy Halloween on orange and black construction paper.
  • Use the gray poster board to create and cut out gravestones. Put the names of people you know on the gravestones.
  • Take the pillowcase and sew the fishing bobbles on for eyes. Use the hoop on the bobbles to attach for eyes. Use the black marker to make pupils and use a red marker to make blood shot lines.
  • Make knots at the end of the pant legs and sleeves. Fill both the pants and shirt with yard debris.
  • Tuck the shirt into the pants and attach the belt.
  • Tape the decorations on all of the windows of your house. Make sure that they stand out in the dark.
  • Loop the twine around the neck of the scarecrow and hang it on your front door.
