How to decorate the outside of your home for Christmas

From ArticleWorld

When Christmas season draws near, for some people the urge to decorate the yard is too hard to resist.

What you need

  • Visit the Christmas section of any store and you will have an assortment of decorations to choose from.
  • Multi colored blinking Christmas lights (you will need several thousand of these.) Make sure that you purchase the outdoor lights as using the indoor lights outside can lead to fire.
  • Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, and the Grinch statues or inflatable figures can be found anywhere there is a Christmas display.
  • Window icicle lights for all the windows on the second floor facing your front yard
  • Holiday Wreaths for as many windows that are on the first floor facing your front yard.
  • If your yard does not have anything to wrap the Christmas light around, the you will need holiday poles that you can place around your yard.
  • A heavy outdoor waterproof and weatherproof extension cord in the length that is adequate for your yard.

How to decorate

  • Place the statues or figurines around the yard in the places that you want them.
  • Plant the holiday poles in a big circle around the statues or figurines, making sure that they are planted securely enough that the wind or snow will not knock them over.
  • Starting at the bottom, wrap the Christmas lights up and down each pole, making sure that the connections are correct to continue to the next pole.
  • Place a holiday wreath on every first floor window that is facing the front yard.
  • String up the window icicle lights on every window on the second floor facing the front yard.

Make sure that all of the connection lead into one and plug them into the heavy-duty extension cord.

  • Plug the extension cord in and merry Christmas!
