What a hot dog is?

Unlike other sausages, the hot dog is normally smaller in size and lacks the seasonings that are common with sausage. The rough dimensions of a hot dog are about 15cm long (6 inches), and are typically narrow. Thickness and length can vary though.

These hot dogs are cooked at events or at home and placed in long buns that are referred to as hot dog buns. Condiments such as mustard, catsup, relish, and onions can be added to enhance the flavor.

Caseless hot dogs

Commercial hot dogs have the ingredients of spices, meats. binders, and fillers placed in large containers where they are sliced up and ground up. The remains are mixed and then forced through long tubes that are pressed and heated up. This cooks the meat combination and keeps the ingredients together.

Kosher hot dogs

Kosher hot dogs are made with certain diets in mind, typically Jewish diets which do not allow pork to be eaten. These are made of beef and chicken meat with diary powders used as a flavor enhancer. These have gained a lot of popularity and are believed to be better to eat in terms of health stanards.

Preparing the dogs

Hot dogs can be grilled, steamed, boiled, micro waved, or eaten cold. This may seem unhealthy, eating them raw, but the hot dog creation process effectively cooks them already.
