The Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel is the grandest and the largest hotel of Hawaii. It is big enough to be termed a resort in itself. If recognition of its name and the statistics of visitors staying in the Hotel are taken into account it also becomes the most popular hotel in the area. The Ala Moana Center, the largest open air shopping center in the world is located close to the Hotel and this makes it a very attractive destination for tourists coming to Hawaii. The Village as the Hotel is popularly known is a tourist’s paradise with lush tropical plants, wildlife and priceless art treasures.

Background

The hotel was called the Kaiser Hawaiian Hotel when it first came into being; it was named after its builder and owner Henry J. Kaiser. The Village encompasses within its vast area of 22 acres more than 20 restaurants, interesting wildlife and even a botanical garden. The Super Pool which is the resort’s beachfront pool is the largest on the island. Here every Friday performances showcasing Hawaiian life are enacted and celebrations end with a breath-taking fireworks display.

The Hotel is called the Village because the whole area within the precincts is laid out in the form of small hamlets, with a high rise hotel building in the middle called a tower. Thus, there is the Diamond Head Tower, The Lagoon Tower, and Rainbow Tower, etc. The latest addition to the Hotel, the Kalia Tower came under a cloud because mold was discovered in a few of its roofs, for which reason it had to be closed down for a while.
