Typical fetish clothing
Some of the most common fetishized clothing includes:
- Underwear, often underwear that is dirty, or has recently been worn (there is actually a market for worn underwear); body harnesses and body stockings are also popular.
- Skin tight clothing, usually made of a specific fabric. Catsuits are a good example.
- Footwear, which can vary from ballet slippers to pony boots or thigh high boots.
Typical fetish fabrics
Fabrics that are often fetished include leather, rubber, fur, PVC and spandex.
Types of fetishes
- Suit and tie fetish. This is a combination of stimulation the sight and touch. People who have this fetish often find an appreciation for the sharp, powerful look of a man in a suit but also enjoy the soft look and the crisp feeling of cotton and the sleek feel of silk. This may apply to the person with the man in the suit or to the man who wears the suit himself.
Fetish vs. function
Many of these materials are typically found in functional clothing. Clothes that are made of designs that are commonly fetishized or out of a fabric that is commonly linked to fetishes are not necessarily fetishtic in and of themselves.
Fetishes have, however, led to functional clothing becoming fetishized. This may include: riding boots, diving suits, school uniforms and industrial clothing such as Hazmat suits and gas masks.
Fetish specialists
Some mainstream fashion designers have adopted elements from fetish clothing into their design and some fashion models, like Midori and Dita von Teese, specialize in fetish attire.
