A UNESCO World Heritage Site is a particular site selected for the International World Heritage Programme adopted on November 16, 1972. The sites may have a cultural or natural “outstanding international value”. They may include mountain ranges, cities, forests, lakes, buildings, deserts and complexes. Upto 2005, the number of such sites in 812 located in 180 World Heritage countries.
