Venomous animals are those species of animals that use venom, a form of toxin, both for protection against enemies and to paralyze or kill their prey. Many venomous animals live in the ocean. Box jellyfish and other species of jellyfish have venom that is injected by nematocysts into prey. Certain species of octopus, scorpion fish and pufferfish carry venom as well. On dry ground, bees and related species have venom in stingers and earth-dwelling scorpions use venom to kill their prey.
