Punctuation is a set of symbols that aid in the clarification, and organization, of the written language. The rules of punctuation are always changing, depending on location, language, and time. Some rules of punctuation are not really rules, but guidelines, and may or may not, be used by the author. Punctuation varies greatly from one language to the next, using entirely different sets of symbols.
