Poker hands refers to the cards held by a player, in a game of poker. There are many standard and non-standard poker hands, each with it’s own value and ranking. In addition to the names for each poker hand, there are often slang terms for them as well. Some are new creations and some date to poker’s antiquity. One famous example is the Dead Man’s Hand. This hand consists of two pair, aces and eights. Wild Bill Hickok was holding this combination of cards when he was shot and killed.
