Mathematical analysis is a branch of mathematics which deals with the study of continuous change. Concepts such as limits, convergence, differentiation and integration which are closely related are studied along with real numbers, complex numbers and their functions. Analysis also deals with any space of mathematical objects in relation to distance or nearness such as vector spaces, metric spaces and topological spaces.

Mathematical analysis began by the invention of calculus in the 17th century and has now grown into a vast field of mathematical research. Real analysis, functional analysis, harmonic analysis and complex analysis are all subdivisions of mathematical analysis.
