Infant feeding is the act of feeding an infant (or baby). Initially, an infant cannot eat solid foods and must rely in his or her mother’s breast milk for nutrition – or the mother can opt to supply the infant’s nutrition via baby formula fed in a baby bottle. A mother can pump her milk with a breast pump and feed the child by this means as well. If a mother is unable to nurse her own child for any reason, she may wish to employ a wet nurse, who will take the responsibility on herself.
