The only medium which can keep one spell bound whether deaf, blind or mute is the movies. One may not call it the greatest invention but films may be rated a close second behind the 'wheel'. When the silent films hit the screen, the audience was transfixed; and sound left them mesmerised for ever. The word film can be used to describe either one individual movie, or the industry which make movies as a whole. Fitting into the category of art, along with music, theatre and traditional drawings or sculptures, films can be used for many purposes. Modern films often express an opinion, highlight an issue or event from the past, present or future, or exist purely to offer escapism and entertainment to the viewer.
