Engineering is the term given to describe a profession in which mathematics and sciences are applied to the efficient use of materials and forces present in nature. It is used for solving practical problems encountered in diverse fields. Based primarily on mathematical calculations for design and manufacture, this field also takes into account various scientific factors related to practicability and safety.

There are several branches and sub-branches of engineering. Some of the most important ones are civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and chemical engineering.
