Category:Crystals

From ArticleWorld

A crystal is a solid which has all its atoms, ions or molecules arranged in a regularly repeating internal structure. Crystals are formed by the solidification of a liquid. Ideally, one crystal would be formed but as many crystals form at the same time this leads to the production of a polycrystal. Crystallization is dependent on the conditions such as pressure and fluid chemistry. Crystals occur with all types of chemical bonding and some well known examples are salt, diamonds and graphite.
