Vlax Romany language

Of the many Roma dialects, Vlax Romany is the most widely spoken, with 1.5 million speakers. Romany dialects/ languages are classified as members of the Indo-Aryan languages sub-group of the Indo-European family. Vlax Romany is not mutually intelligible with other Romany dialects. In common with them, though, is the use of the Romany alphabet, which is based on Latin script and has 46 characters, most additions using umlauts, carons, circumflexes and acute accents. Close to half a million Vlax Romany speakers live in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and half that in Romania.
