Reconstructivism

Reconstructivism is an ideology that emphasizes the importance of changing for the better existing social structures. A good example of this theory being adopted and put into use is Paulo Freire, a teacher from Brazil who taught students the benefits of social reform within society.

In opposition to post-deconstructionist ideas, Reconstructivism encourages remodeling oppressive structures.

Two artistic campaingns have adopted the term "reconstructivism":

1. Reinformation - Taking existing datastreams, and adapting them to new meanings and new forms of judging their aesthetics.

2. Christian Existential Humanism' - Classic aesthetic structures applied to deconstructed art elements, termed "Reconstructivist Art". This movement supports the goal of Freire in spreading social reform through education.
