Nicole Kidman is a versatile performer of stage and screen. She is considered one of the classiest actresses in Hollywood. Nicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20, 1967 to parents, Dr. Anthony David Kidman and Janelle Ann Kidman in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Family Life

Nicole lived in the US until the age of 4 when her family moved to Australia. She currently holds dual citizenship in both the US and Australia.

Nicole was always focused on performance, even from an early age. She took ballet lessons at 4 and later studied at St. Martin’s Youth Theater in Melbourne. She had to drop out of high school due to her mothers’ breast cancer.

Career

She began her acting career at age 15 with a video for the Sony “Bop Girl” in 1983. She then won a supporting role on the TV series Five Mile Creek. Nicole starred in many Australian flicks and TV series’ including an overseas soap opera A Country Practice.

Her first appearance on an American movie screen came in 1990 when she starred opposite then husband-to-be, Tom Cruise in the movie Days of Thunder. They were married on Christmas Eve of that year. They divorced 10 years later.

She is believed to be currently engaged to Australian country music star, Keith Urban and there are unconfirmed reports that she is pregnant with his child. A clear status of their relationship is not known as Kidman has kept very quiet about it.

The late 1990’s and early new century has seen her starring in several successful films including The Others (2001), Cold Mountain (2003) and The Stepford Wives (remake 2004). Kidman recently had a starring role in 2005’s Sydney Pollack film The Interpreter. It is speculated to be named one of the best movies of the year.

Sing a song…

In addition to countless film awards over the years, Nicole Kidman is known to be an accomplished singer. She performed several songs in the 2002 film Moulin Rouge and has 2 songs currently at #1 on both the UK and Australian charts.

Charity work

She has been a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF since 1994 and has been a great advocate for meeting the needs of underprivileged children in Australia.
