Kelly Slater

Kelly Slater was born February 11, 1972 and is from Cocoa Beach, Florida. He is considered to be the most successful surfer of all time and many affiliated with the sport consider him a genius when it comes to surfing. He was involved in the X Games during the 2003 and 2004 seasons and has been a driving force behind East Coast surfing.

In 1991, Slater made it to People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People list. He has been on the cover of Surfing magazine, Transworld Surf and Surfer magazine. In the 1990’s Slater and some friends formed a band called, appropriately, “The Surfers”. The released an album entitled “Songs from the Pipe.” He played Jimmy Slade on the hit television show “Baywatch” for one season and in 2002, Treyarch and Activision released a videogame called Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer. In 2003, he published an autobiography entitled “Pipe Dreams: A Surfer’s Journey.”

Kelly Slater has amassed numerous victories over the course of his pro surfing career. He has a total of 43 career victories, 31 WTC victories and seven World Surfing titles. He has been dubbed the “Michael Jordan” of surfing by both fans and media outlets.
