How to ride a ski-lift with a snowboard

From ArticleWorld

In order to use a snowboard, you will have to get on and off a ski-lift. This can be a pain in the neck sometimes, especially if you are unprepared. However, it is a necessary evil, and something that has to be learnt before you can enjoy yourself.

How to get on

Walk over to the lift. Have a lift pass.

Bind your lead foot to the board, and attach the leash to your foot. Put your other foot before the board, and stand sideways on. To move, push forward with that foot.

Queue for the lift. When you come to the red line, wait. The ski attendant will signal when it is safe to go further. When that happens, move quickly to the next red line, and wait for the chair to arrive.

When the chair is within range, grab the side of the chair, and crouch slightly.

Drop down the safety bar, and rest your board on the foot rest connected to it.

How to get off

Look out for large signs telling you to get ready. Raise the safety bar when you see these. Raise the edge of your snowboard when you see a sign warning skiers to raise their tips.

Keep the board clear of the ramp, and stand up slowly when your board can reach the surface. Allow the chair to nudge you along. Move along quickly to clear the way.

When dismounting from the lift, put more weight on your front foot, as this gives you greater control.
