To be loving and kind to yourself comes only if you accept yourself the way you are and be content with the image. Self love does not imply using yourself as the object of your love and being a Narcissus, rather it is awareness and an attitude that encompasses the whole world. When you love yourself you automatically love the whole world and indirectly influence everyone around you. It is like possessing the magic wand so that everybody who comes in contact with it is blessed. Here are some guidelines to show you the way to self-love.

A few suggestions

  1. First and foremost, accept yourself the way you are – fully and unconditionally. You will begin to love yourself more when you accept all your flaws as being part of the whole you.
  2. Spend some time everyday just by yourself, call it – touching base. During this time just relax and listen to yourself as you would if you were another person. Learn to focus your energies and wind down mentally.
  3. Cultivate good eating and exercising habits. A healthy diet coupled with an exercise routine make you feel on top of the world and give you confidence.
  4. Respect yourself, berating and disparaging your own self will lead you to waste precious time which you could have gainfully employed in some constructive activity.
  5. Help others. Don’t do it to feel that it is for the society and the general good of the world. Do it for yourself because finally it is you who feels good about helping people.

  • Hang feel good photos of yourself and your family around the house. Just seeing pictures of people you love makes you feel surrounded with love and that is what makes the world go round.

Don’ts

  • Don’t neglect your physical self, ever. If you look physically good then you will feel mentally peaceful. Taking care of your face and body should be a part of your daily regime.
