Women in music is something that has become a norm in society as of late. In many cases of the past they could sing, but typically were just back up vocals or just a disembodied voice. In the recent years, women have developed genres of music by their gender alone and have been involved in music on every level. Many of the popular songs out right now are written by women and many of them are performed by women bands or performers.
