Psychiatry is a branch of medicine involved in the diagnosis and treatment of mental and behavioural disorder. Psychiatrists differ from other mental healthcare workers in that they are qualified to prescribe medication. Psychiatrists may specialize in any number of areas including child and adolescent, adult, old-age, learning disabilities and forensic. They usually use a combination of medication, therapy and counseling.
