Contrary to normally held belief, there are numerous classifications of Hotel Types. Apart from the ubiquitous Hotels, there are the Inns of yore which have now metamorphosed into Motels. The range varies from inexpensive Flop houses to exotic Resorts and Holiday cottages. The English Bed and Breakfast facility has given rise to the American Boutique hotel while lack of space has led to the invention of Ryokan inns and Capsule hotels in Japan. The Ice hotels, Condo-hotels and Timeshares are the modern variants while Hostels still appeal to the foot loose and fancy free.
