Geometry is the sub-field of mathematics that involves the study of the relationship between shapes in space. Elementary geometry allows us to determine properties such as the area and perimeter of two-dimensional figures and the surface area and total volume occupied by a solid object in three-dimensional space. Geometry is required in everyday life just as arithmetic. Axioms and relations in geometry are commonly applied in fields such as civil and mechanical engineering.
